Dh thought Sheffield, I thought Leeds.
She's actually from Sunderland.
I'm from teesside, loads of family in Sunderland. Dh from North Yorkshire.
Does anyone else think she sounds Yorkshire in this programme? I can't see any reason why she'd put on a Leeds accent of she didn't have to!

Can definitely tell she's from further up than Yorkshire. There's a soft Geordie lull to her accent. Nothing like Leeds or Sheffield at all.

Must just be us then. Very odd as we're usually quite good between us.

She sounds nothing like my family in Sunderland, and it's not a big place.
She does sound like work colleagues in york/Leeds.

I thought Yorkshire. I’m a Geordie and very good with accents/detecting if it’s fake, normally (language teacher). My dad was a mackem, so I’m usually very accurate.

She definitely sounds Yorkshire in the series, though her backstory is that she ran a b&b in Kendal. Have you seen the film? Tilda Swinton plays a character with a strong Yorkshire accent (definitely worth a watch, it is different from the series but amazing) and I assume this inspired Ruth's Yorkshire accent as well as a couple of other things like the fur coat.

I was shocked to find that Bess was Sting's daughter (I have a bit of a crush on her)

Oh thank you, so she maybe is putting on a Yorkshire accent?
Actually I do remember the thing about the B&B, we're just starting the second series. I don't think she sounds like she's from the lakes either but I'm not sure what that accent is!

I wasn't even aware there was a film!

The film is much better. No, definitely trying to be from Yorkshire, as in the film.
