All welcome - you can post more than once, just don't double post or no trophy for you!

Party on dudes, and be excellent to each other 🎉

poor her.
hope baby is arriving soon. Flowers

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 00:43

so I took DS2's bestie home.
sat down to finish an episode of Scrubs.
DS2 then comes down to tell that his mate left his bag in the car and he needs it in the morning.

yes, of course, off we go, would've been ridiculous for him to get Uber or wake his parents.
got back and DS2 went: "mum, he left his..."
me, interrupting:"very funny! no he didn't!"

ah, teenagers!🤣

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 22/06/2021 02:49

Aw, Kurt, that's rough!

BakeOffRewatch · 22/06/2021 09:14

I give up on “The Colour of Magic” sorry! This passage here where it jumps from Rincewind in conflict, to a bird, back to Rincewind somewhere else was the final straw. I had to reread many times, like ok where did this bird come in, then realise it’s a cut-away, then where’s Rincewind. Too much hard work.

“Wyrd Sisters” and “Mort” both available on the local digital library so I will start on that. So is “Guards! Guards!”. I think the whole series is. Thank you @LucysSkyDiamonds, @NigellaSeed and @PurpleyBlue!

Sorry to hear about your daughter @KurtWilde, thinking of her today and hoping labour ward frees up a bed.

Oh I need to quickly find a bed/sleeping surface that can be put away each day suitable for someone with back issues. Please help? Thinking futon bed. Should I make a controversial AIBU for the traffic and suggestions Grin “AIBU for expecting my elderly MIL with back issues to sleep on a tea towel on the floor?”

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 09:30

🤣

we have incredibly comfortable blow up camping mattresses.
I have all sorts of arm, neck, shoulder & back issues and I find them comfortable.

can get brand name if you want

BakeOffRewatch · 22/06/2021 09:37

Yes please! Thank you so much @ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba

I used to have a Jay-Be fold up bed from Argos, it was great, had a spring mattress. I gave it to a charity that assists young mums coming out of care and into temporary accommodation. To make way for cot… which baby never sleeps in, currently sprawled out on our bed. Wondering if I should repurchase and give away again but an expensive thing to do.

I’m looking at things like this too, we used to sleep on them when entire families with loads of cousins visited thaipillow.co.uk/Folding-Mattresses/Folding-Mattresses-110cm:::4_41.html . Can just roll away.

KurtWilde · 22/06/2021 09:40

Morning all, how is everyone today? We have bright sunshine for the first official day of summer. See how long that lasts 😂

DD went on to labour ward early hours but she's still not progressing even after waters broken. They've offered her the hormone drip so she's waiting for that and an epidural. 4 days in and exhausted but determined.

What's anyone up to today? I'm self employed and no work on at the minute so I'm gonna pop out somewhere to distract my brain.

NigellaSeed · 22/06/2021 09:50

DS has his 12m jab later today, during my shift at work, I didn't book it off as I'm already doing a very phased return and working part-time so I'm barely there as it is, and I trust DP to comfort Ds. But am feeling a bit guilty now :(

Your poor DD @Kurt. After they just waiting for a bed to then break her waters? Is her partner allowed to be there with her now?

@BakeOff Even though I suggested Mort I also think you should go with Wyrd sisters first, you'll love the characters.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 09:51

morning @KurtWilde

I reckon baby will be out by 6pm.
I'm amazed at her, I know I would've begged for a C-section about 2 days ago!😁
good for her.

no plans.
DS1 threw up last night (that's 2 kids in 3 nights) and both DH & I have been feeling nauseated since Sat so now we think that's not jab related, but some bug instead.
ho hum

apart from that I'm feeling much better today.
it's so damn cold & miserable here I'll probably jump in hot tub now, have a hot shower then have a duvet day!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 09:54

on it BakeOff
will let you know assp

KurtWilde · 22/06/2021 09:57

Nigella hope your DS isn't too upset with his jab! You'll be able to give him lots of cuddles when you get home. But yeah I totally get how you feel.

They couldn't break her waters until they had a bed on labour ward, and it turns out even after she finally got down there that hasn't done anything despite really strong contractions. Her partner has been allowed to stay the whole time which is fab because I'd be even more of a wreck if she was on her own! Fingers crossed the hormone drip does the trick today but there's a waiting list Sad

Wyrd Sisters is one of my favourites!

Thanks zing, all mine ended up in emergency c-section or were elective to start with so I'm so proud of her determination!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 09:59

oh Nigella
don't feel guilty.

when DS4 broke his arm in Sept DH went to meet the paramedics then went to hospital and stayed.
I had had a shit night so wouldn't have coped. and I'm often very inappropriate in situations like that because I make jokes I shouldn't
I had no guilt. you are not allowed to have any, I forbid you!😉

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 22/06/2021 10:16

Kurt, I'm glad she's finally on the ward!

Nigella Don't feel guilty. DS will get comfort from DP and then fresh comfort when you get back.

Zing Sounds chaotic! I hope everyone's illness passes quickly and that you get warmed up.

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 22/06/2021 10:43

Not much going on here today. In taking the day off because I worked in the weekend (except all the Mumsnet posting, of course). I'm going to try to watch the Sewing Bee final during DD's nap. I'm not heavily invested but would like to see how it ends.

PurpleyBlue · 22/06/2021 10:58

Please do
PurpleyBlue · 22/06/2021 10:58

Oops. Please do, I would love to read that!

PurpleyBlue · 22/06/2021 11:00

Taken LO to the park. Hung up all the washing to dry and making a cake. Not feeling great but LO doesn't understand PLEASE DON'T JUMP ON ME.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 11:06

well so much for tub, shower & bed...
had to pick up DD from school as she isn't well and has some symptoms that could be early signs of meningitis so just spoke to 111 and waiting for GP to call back to see what to do next. (obv if symptoms worsen or get new stuff I'll be calling 999 as advised. but not worried for now)

poor girl, she's not only unwell but is upset; their class teacher is leaving today and she won't be there for end of day saying goodbye.
we are watching Horrible Histories (she's 9 so a tad young for Workin" Moms🤣).
I think I'll crochet a bit

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 22/06/2021 11:12

Oh, Zing, how disappointing for your DD. Sad

FlowerPower3110 · 22/06/2021 11:31

Oh Nigella please don't feel guilty! You'll be able to give your DS lots of cuddles when you get home from work

Zing I hope your DD will feel better soon.

Kurt that baby is really taking his time now. Your poor DD must be so uncomfortable, but she's so strong!

FlowerPower3110 · 22/06/2021 11:35

It finally stopped raining here, so I took DC out to play in the garden.

I've had enough of this weather, I want SUMMER Grin

Cinni23 · 22/06/2021 11:56

@BakeOffRewatch

BOOM

I was post number 800, 900 and 1000.

Thank you thank you @UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa for providing this struggling new mum on mat leave with the greatest achievement of the last year.

Omg - well done!
KurtWilde · 22/06/2021 12:13

Oh zing i hope your DD is ok, poor mite that sounds awful and she's upset too. Fingers crossed it's just a bug.

Flower we've finally got sunshine too, I've got a washing line full so it better not rain!!

Thanks all for the kind words about my DD, I'm immensely proud of her, she's already a super mum and he's not even here yet!

What's for lunch? Bacon sarnies here. And I've run out of coffee so that needs rectifying today.
