Legal advice - probate

I wonder any solicitors can help. My mum died about 3 years ago and I was the executer and only beneficiary of the will. Her liquid assets were under £20,000 and I didn't need to apply for probate. However, she did own a 20% share in a house with my step-dad (approx 70k).He died this year and when probate is granted on his will the house will be sold. Should I have applied for probate on my Mum's will. Thanks

Hi, I know this is a few days old so you’ve likely asked elsewhere but money saving expert has a good board for probate questions on their forum.
