Call me stupid (I am!) but I don’t understand this ad!

The one where it says that dogs have hands too so we should look after them. But it’s an ad for doggy dental sticks or something. Please enlighten me :)

And feel free to bring up ads you don’t understand so that I feel less alone with my stupidity!

It means that dogs use their teeth the way people use their hands so you need to look after them. I only got that after about the 3rd time of watching though and I have a dog. It's not a good ad!

RockPaperScissorLizardSpock · 18/06/2021 23:16

I just googled the ad and I think I have an answer for you! Basically, the idea is that dogs use their mouths like we use our hands (i.e to hold things), so owners need to help look after their dog’s teeth and gums etc.

Aha! Thank you both!

It is so twee and cringeworthy though.

"Dogs have hands too!" in the sort of voice usually reserved for asking someone over the age of 95 whether they would like a nice cup of tea.

Dontate · 18/06/2021 23:50

There seems to be a crop of cringey twee adverts at the minute! The one for comfort (I think) where the woman shouts “WHAT IS IT?” sets my teeth on edge every time!

TitsInAbsentia · 18/06/2021 23:52

Dominos....why are they yodelling? Surely they'd just bloody text...

Also when the other woman says "Mine" I can't stand that. They sound about 5 years old.

There's a clever way of making you remember ads and annoying the fuck out of you is one of them :)

tomorrowalready · 19/06/2021 05:23

I tend to click away from ads but one I have seen several times and still have no idea what it is for is where young white woman is in a room, seems frustrated , young black woman appears, they bump fists, room disappears, white woman is wandering round outside bumping fists with all and sundry, manically grinning, finishes by somehow pushing a middle aged man on edge of a lake into water and there is the young woman grinning and the young black woman reappears and they all grin happily ever after. Some details may be wrong but I have no idea what this is for except the "oh we need to have more black people in our ads giving the help and support all the white people need ", panic the ad people seem to have had recently.

All it makes me think of is the nasty case recently where a fisherman was randomly shoved into a lake by a lout and saved by a young woman. I don't think they are selling random loutishness. Who knows.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 19/06/2021 05:29

The Marc Jacobs Daisy advert. Why are they all just repeatedly saying Daisy?! So annoying!

Yes. Most seem to be going down the annoying route though. I had the jingle for a radio advert stuck in my head on loop the other night. Angry
Sparklingbrook · 19/06/2021 05:35

What on earth is that yodelling one? Makes me want to put my foot through the TV.

I don't think annoying me with an advert is going to make me want to buy what they are selling TBF. If I knew what it was that is...

Dontate · 19/06/2021 12:34

The “let’s annoy everyone” tactic is clever - certainly makes you remember the ads. But as previous poster says, doesn’t incline me to buy!

@tomorrowalready that one is for some sort of phone deal I think?

Hello Fresh advert really annoys me, with that irritating woman. Also 'Hello Fresh' sounds like some kind of sanitary towel, quite off putting in a food advert.

sueelleker · 19/06/2021 16:21

Why does the Gucci Guilty advert have an ostrich wandering round a supermarket/

TitsInAbsentia · 19/06/2021 22:18

Almost makes me long for the good old days....

SherlocksDeerstalker · 19/06/2021 22:21

Oh god the Daisy advert. Hmm my six year old likes nothing more than going round the house screeching ‘Daisy, Daisy, Daisy, Daisy…’ ad infinitum in some kind of hideous zombie voice.

hugoagogo · 19/06/2021 22:24

That yodelling one makes me think about people with poor vision, what do they make of it?

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 19/06/2021 22:29

I loathe the yodelling one and the Ocado one makes me irrationally angry. It doesn’t make me want to buy from Ocado either. I also loathe the Funding Circle with the talking baby. I hate all those computer generated talking baby ads.

HazelBite · 19/06/2021 22:29

I shall just say Innovo !

What is it advertising?
hugoagogo · 19/06/2021 22:39

Some takeaway app I think deliveroo or some such.

Dontate · 19/06/2021 23:54

I think the yodelling one is for Dominos pizza.

I don’t like the one for hair colour with Stacey Dooley is it? Where they say “She does Stacey”, and she says “Yes, she does!”

Probably quicker to list the ads I do like!

There is a billboard campaign I think for lungworm in dogs - where people are crying slugs - it is horrific.
