Why do shops duel size?

I mean I kind of get why they'd want to but its so bloody annoying. Its usually in sports brands but today I saw a gorgeous dress on monsoon and thought "if you want me to pay £90 for a dress why can't I at least have the right size/fit all over?"

I'm a 10, I guess a large 10, so when options are 8-10 or 12-14 I find neither fit right 😡

I know I can find other brands and I do but sometimes like today I see something gorgeous and it's so frustrating

I find dual sizing fits just the same as the higher size, so I read an 8-10 as a 10. It's often a problem for me in shops where I need an 8, the 8-10 is usually too big.

Don’t get me started on women’s clothes sizes. As an example why do they think when we go up a size we get taller.

And why do they think my arms are longer now I am a bit fatter?

Isn't the longer length because taller women will be a bigger size on average? In shops that don't have petite and tall ranges I understand doing it. A size 6 woman is more likely to be 5ft 3 than 5ft 10 aren't they?
