Does working somewhere that doesn’t have a great reputation look bad on your CV?

I’ve seen a job that I’d really like to do advertised however it is at a University which has quite a bad reputation educationally (although from what I’ve seen online the feedback from staff working there seems to be mostly positive). I know that if you’ve worked for a big impressive company employers can look upon this favourably however can they opposite work in reverse? If you work somewhere without a great reputation will this be looked down on?

Depends on the alternative. I'd say you working at a place with a bad reputation would be less looked down on than me being a SAHM for the past 12 years!

@CompanyCrowdFight I’m sure employers wouldn’t look down on you! There isn’t really an alternative for me right now, I’m applying for other jobs too but I there isn’t lots of choice :(

No, I worked for a hugely well known company whose reputation was trashed. People were just really interested and definitely didn't affect future employers' views of me.
