Can anyone recommend a decent place to buy a bed without waiting weeks for delivery? DS is moving out and needs a cheapish but decent double bed.

He's been looking at IKEA but I think they are funny sizes to buy bedlinen for.

Not sure if it helps but I've had double beds from IKEA and buy standard bedding. I have the Malm double bed and have M&D bedding on it. I'd heard the same though before I bought it.

That's good to hear, I think I'll just tell him to go there then. The online places all have dodgy reviews.

IKEA sell standard doubles now so no different to any other shop. They used to be metric equivalents and differed by a few cm but not enough for bedding to be different although mattresses were an issue. Not sure when it changed but they’ve had standard doubles for a while now.

Try Argos?

Do you have any local bed shops? We have a fab independent near us and they were able to deliver within a week. Switch your location on and search for bed shops near me.

Ikea singles are fine too. I've just bought an IKEA mattress for DS single divan. No problems at all. You can also just bring it home in the car as they roll them up very small.

Ikea all the way! Yes they are standard sizes now. One tip I learned, if he buys a bed with slats it’s worth getting the best slats (I think there are 3 options). I got my beds from Ikea and I think they are great and very stylish

Agree re slats. Paying the extra is definitely worth it.
