18 month old still awake

Mylittlesandwich · 17/06/2021 01:08

Its 1am and my 18 month old has decided that sleeping isn't for him tonight. Solidarity needed.

There's nothing that we can see wrong with him and he doesn't seem unhappy just every time he goes down he wakes up.

I start work in 7 hours.

Yep. DD been tossing and turning and waking herself up for hours. Currently holding her in an attempt to get her to fall asleep 🙃

DS is still cuddled to sleep but reliably transfers to his cot. Not tonight. And he has nursery tomorrow.

18 month sleep regression? My 19 month old needs to be held to sleep again and woke up at 1am so here I am. I also blame the heat and the snotty nose she picked up from playgroup last week!

My 4 year old still does this some nights, I do hope his younger sister is better. I often give him a bath if he’s still awake seems to relax him.

SarahAndQuack · 17/06/2021 01:41

DD's awake. I guess at least if it's a one-off it's not the end of the world.

I have a 6 week old awake. He likes to be swaddled but he's getting really hot. I left him in a vest and he's crying every half hour, I'm so tired and so unbearably hot myself so holding him is making us both a sweaty mess. My older 2 will be up between 5-6am

DH has just taken him downstairs to try so I can get a few hours sleep before work. I think the main issue is that I'm spoiled. He usually sleeps well and so this is a shock to the system.

Sometimes they like to throw a spanner in the works! Hope he drops off for you soon

If it helps mine doesn't usually sleep well and it's still a shock to the system when it's worse Grin

Isn't there some sort of regression at 18 months? My son went through a funny stage at 18 months sleep. He's always been a good sleeper so it was a bit of a shock to the system for me!

PixieDust28 · 17/06/2021 07:02

With sleep*

Dreamer2468 · 17/06/2021 08:07

How long does the 18 month sleep regression last? My 20 month is still sleeping very poorly. I hope you got some sleep in the end OP.

Mylittlesandwich · 17/06/2021 08:21

I got a few hours, sitting at work now though it doesn't feel like it.

Currently sitting with a coffee trying to look alive.

Duckswaddle · 17/06/2021 11:52

Both of mine (6 and 3) have been struggling to sleep in the heat. They’re usually amazing sleepers!
