Can you buy a season ticket for the tube and with that ticket can you travel to any station in a zone?

I am currently considering applying for a job in London which would involve me having to travel between different areas of Zone 2. If I got the job I would have to probably live in Zone 3/4/5.

Can you buy a season ticket that allows you to travel from zone 4 to any area in zone 2 for example or does it have to be between two specific stations?

You use an oyster card or an ordinary debit card. You could have a look on the tfl website for further information. I dont think there are any tickets now.

I assume you are talking about tube travel?

Vanillapod4 · 16/06/2021 13:26

@endofthelinefinally yes on the tube

You can get a zone 2 - zone 4 travelcard on an Oyster, but it’s possible that pay as you go might be cheaper. I know that sounds odd, but PAYG is capped per day / per week.

Yes you can get, you will need a travel card season ticket, which is loaded onto an Ouster. This will allow you to use tube, bus and tram, in any of the valid zone, as often as you want.

There are various time periods from a day to 12 months.

Yes you can get a travelcard which will save you money (as long as you're using it most days).

Ah others beat me to it!

Yes a tfl season ticket is from zone to zone rather than station to station. The tfl website explains your options. I don't think all zone combinations are possible

If you are going to be travelling daily on that pattern for weeks/months, it will be cheaper to get a season ticket than to pay the daily cap on PAYG.

Season tickets are loaded onto an Oyster card, and if you put some money on the same card you can PAYG if you make journeys outside your travelcard area. I have an annual bus pass, and use the PAYG section for the odd tube/rail journey. You have to remember to top up, but it's the same price and cap as using a contactless card, and I like having the one card for all travel
