I had a very traumatic miscarriage recently I hate that word as it was at 17 weeks and it definitely didn't feel like a miscarriage but that's by the by, I'm just giving context for why I need opinions.

My sister in law had a baby yesterday and DH is away with work. I've been invited to go over and meet the baby tomorrow, with other family. I have to bring a gift. Well I don't have to but I want to.

Do I go for.

  1. Ewan the dream sheep?
  2. Aden and Anais 3 wrap things
  3. A star wrap from tuppence and crumble?
  4. Insert own idea here

My thoughts on 1 are quite a lot of people know about Ewan now so it's quite a popular thing to buy? Might they already have one?

I have 3 spare white noise machines from when my son was born so I would vote against ewan. Also bought loads of aden and anais wraps as I had read how handy they were and never used them (although I know lots of people love them) . So I would say star wrap

I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Everyone I know has loved the Tuppance wrap but I wonder if one is really needed in the summer? If so I would go for that

And I'm sorry about your miscarriage. Don't feel you have to brave out the visit if you find it tough, look after yourself. I'm sure she will understand

Thanks ! I might just ship it to their house

Actually now I've thought the star wrap may not get much use with it being summer, don't know what age you would realistically use it until. One of our fav presents was flappy the elephant and my son still loves it now at nearly 2.

I bought 3 massive Aden and anais wraps for my PFB and I'm still using them now my 2nd is 3. So they will forever be my go to new born gift.

I'm sorry for your loss. Look after yourself.

CatalinaCasesolver · 16/06/2021 14:48

Sorry for your loss.

I'd go with the wraps or maybe a Sophie le giraffe teether

So sorry for your loss, it must be hard getting yo grips with a new baby in the family.

I had no idea what yo buy a friend for his new DC a while back as I do t know what is trendy / old hat / practical.
I did know that he had already recived lots of plushys so I didn't want to get more.
So I went for lots of baby products , new born nappies , sudocream, baby wipes, talc , grip water, cotton buds , etc he was chuffed to bits as it was stuff they actually needed / could be used rather than more toys / teddies / electric gizmos they already had or didn't want .

Sounds ridiculous, but books?

SmallGreenStripes · 16/06/2021 15:05

Sorry for your loss Flowers

The Anais wraps x

TheChosenTwo · 16/06/2021 15:09

My default baby present is always a jellycat teddy, a little outfit and a baby toy/book.

Sorry for the loss of your lo, do think about getting your gift shipped, anyone would understand that it might be a bit much you coming for a visit at the moment. Take care of yourself Flowers

MiloAndEddie · 16/06/2021 15:11

I’m so sorry about your miscarriage.

I’d vote the Aden and anais, so handy for basically everything.

Make sure you’re thinking of yourself during this too, it’s not selfish to protect yourself x
