Cotswolds recommendations during Covid times

I've never been but I've got a meeting on Wednesday morning in Witney so DH and I have decided to book a couple of days in the hotel and make it our last pre baby getaway before our first arrives in August!

Is everywhere really crowded at the moment even mid week or will we be ok to visit places like Bourton on the Water, Stratford upon Avon?

Or if anyone has any better recommendations that would be amazing Grin

Also... dog or no dog? Where we live is very dog friendly so we can take him into lots of pubs but happy to leave him with my parents if it's not a good place for dogs.

Thanks!

It’ll be crowded but manageable. Certainly not too bad if you can make the most of the mornings or evenings. Most shops and attractions open at about 10 and close between 5 and 6. If you want to see Bourton on the Water, I’d aim to get there for 8, go for a mooch and have breakfast, then head somewhere else. Or if you’re not morning people, arrive at about 5, go for an explore and then have dinner.
Stratford will be less busy because it’s usually full of a lot of foreigners who obv. won’t be here at the moment and there are loads of attractions spread out over a slightly larger area. Just make sure you book a timed slot.
Stow on the Wold and Chipping Campden are nice little towns between Bourton and Stratford. Cotswold Lavender farm will be open, and if you need to get out of the sun and rest your feet, I’d recommend the Gloucestershire Rail as a good way to see the countryside.
Most places are dog friendly, but in this heat and with the thunderstorms that are forecast, your dog might appreciate staying somewhere peaceful, cool and familiar.
