Hello all,

Off to Whitby in July with DC (6) for a week. I've never been there or anywhere close so would love some recommendations for what to do, see, & eat. TIA

The museum in the park is interesting. If you like pizza then Moutreys is nice.

Love Whitby and the surrounding area.
Definitely the steps and Abbey.
Sandsend beach and Runswick Bay are definitely worth a visit.
Falling Foss waterfall is not far outside of Whitby and is worth a visit

You can walk along the beach from Whitby to Sandsend (if the tide is out far enough) and the Sandside cafe has fabulous cakes!

My kids are a bit older now but Pannett Park is great for younger ones and plenty of benches for us to sit on! Then down into town past Sherlocks along the pier then up the 199 steps to the church which is worth a look whether you're churchy or not 😉

And the Magpie is totally overrated, definitely Trenchers which is equally expensive but much better also for gluten free.

Any recommendations for teen girls?

@Toddlerteaplease

Magpie is massively overrated. Sherlock's coffee shop is lovely!
Agree about The Magpie, living on an undeserved reputation. So many better fish and chip shops in Whitby. The Marine is good for food (including fish). And I second Sherlock's. Try Rusty Shears too.

You could walk to Sandsend, and even RHB (might want to take the bus back). Fossil hunting on RHB beach is fun.

You could explore Boggle Hole, that's lovely. Maybe one day go to Ravenscar for lunch. The view is fantastic from the hotel gardens, and there's an NT shop where you can discover more about the village's strange history.

Yey!! Lots of Trencher’s fans on here!
