I think I'm being paranoid - but...

I own two horses. I rent the paddocks from a farmer. To leave the paddocks we have to ride or lead the horses down a short residential lane, a no through road of about 5 houses. I've been doing this for about 12 years, all works well, the locals like the horses, everything is very friendly.

About a fortnight ago I noticed there was a scattering of tiny pieces of broken glass along the road. I came back with a dustpan and brush and swept it up. All fine, I presumed it had been dropped by a recycling truck or something. Anyway, today there's more. It's quite finely crushed and there is quite a lot of it. I'm beginning to feel a bit worried as obviously if the horses tread on it it could be extremely serious and expensive!!

I don't want the neighbours to think I am being accusatory so what would you do?

Has anyone new moved in recently? Twice could be accidental, three would be the charm. See if it happens again

Yes a new couple have moved in a month ago.

Maybe it's the recycling truck? But there's none on the main village road that the truck would then drive on to, and none anywhere else in the village.

Right I'm going to photo it and clear it. Luckily I walk up there before I fetch the horses back so can always check the road first.
