Is there any such thing as comfortable garden furniture?

That is at least fairly practical and not the cost of a small car?

Over the years I must have wasted a fortune on not quite right garden furniture. I currently have a large wooden table which looks nice, but you don't want to sit on the chairs for too long and a couple of "wicker" basket chairs which are better but still not really comfy.

I've looked at the corner sofa type units but even "cheap" ones are a lot of money and good ones are £££ which seems ridiculous for something that you'll probably only use a handful of weekends per year. Plus what do you do with it all in the winter? And I have a suspicion they're a bit naff.

What's the answer that I'm missing? Something that looks good, is comfortable, practical and affordable?

No is the answer. I can't imagine what all these people buying egg chairs are going to do when it's covered in ants and they can't get out of it.

Perhaps outdoor bean bags? But then trying to get off them is a yoga class in itself.

B&Q Janerio armchairs are really comfortable, durable, only £30 /ea and stack. They have been out of stock for ages but now have grey ones back in.

They may not be the look you are after though.

Janeiro, not Janerio

We do have really comfy garden sofas but they cost as much as my indoor sofa unfortunately. I think the key is having decent cushions. So get sturdy stuff but get good cushions. If your ok sewing then you could make your own, there is a place near me plus I’m sure you could buy online to get sponge cut to your requirements and then you could have them fitting exactly.

I’ve a rattan sofa set and also a dining set. I don’t think they are naff, although fully get the mumsnet horror from some. 😂 they are also very comfortable

Ours are out all year but the cushions go in a cushion box.

We have this sofa one, it’s modular so each chair is seperate ans you can set it up as you wish. They also do the dining sets. The quality is very good and the cushions deep and comfortable.

Yes! We have chairs that fit the table and they recline so sun loungers too and they came with foot stools.was £400 for the set from Homebase.

Anyone seen any of the rattan chairs that don't have the back at a right angle to the seat? I know there's nothing available at the moment but when there is they all seem to come from the same silly design.

We got some outdoor dining chairs from John Lewis with wedding vouchers. They don’t do the same style any more but we found them really comfy in store. They’re the faux wicker type. We got married in 2007, they are left out all year and rarely need cleaning. They were something hideous like £150 each, plus cost of cushions, which seemed too much at the time but here we are 14 years later still using them.

You need to sit on a lot of chairs before you find a comfy one for you, and be prepared to spend £££, but then you won’t need to buy again every couple of years.

As someone said above, cushions are the thing. Make such a difference. We bought cheap rattan-type chairs from Tesco, and with garden cushions on, they are so comfy.
