Tongue tie advice...

any experts out there? I have a private appointment for a tongue tie division when my baby is 5 days old, I have the choice between that or waiting till he is 3 weeks old on the nhs. The nhs feeding person I’ve spoken to said they shouldn’t get the tongue tie snipped before 7 days but personally I’m sure we won’t make it to 3 weeks without having to give up feeding.

Has anyone who knows more than me got any info as to what the disadvantages are for doing the division before 7 days old? In case it’s relevant, the baby was born a week early weighing. 8 and a half lbs.

Sorry, I don’t know the answer. My daughter’s was done at 10 days old as that was the soonest appointment- I don’t recall them mentioning anything about seven days. Personally, I’d go for the private appointment. They should be able to advise you also. My daughter was mix fed for a while until we got established but in the end, we got to two years and nine months before my milk ran out! Hope all goes well x
