There are private clinics that do this. We have one in our town, but you have to make appointments and I’ve no idea how much they charge.

speak to your drs surgery. They will ask you to send a photo in first and if the gp is unsure about it you’ll get a face to face appointment

GP can refer you to the pigmented lesion clinic if you have anything suspect. They will examine all your moles there

The Mole Clinic has a few branches in London and one in Edinburgh. They were excellent - private, though.

I go once or twice a year to a private mole mapping clinic. They take photos of your entire body and compare them each time you go. There is a consultant available to have a look at anything worrying. It cost about £140 per appointment with BMI.

DH has his moles checked every year - being Australian, the NHS are a bit frustrating for him as you need to be referred mole by mole.

I would say you are best off going to a dermatologist for a private consultation and then keeping an eye on certain ones.

Boots has a mole checking service. You could try them.

quarantinevibess · 14/06/2021 20:42

Your doctors surgery can do this. And I’m pretty sure boots do it too.

Daydrambeliever · 14/06/2021 20:52

I think boots will have a pharmacist check a specific mole and let you know if you need further investigation. I don't believe they offer full body checks, or record and check for changes.

My mum spoke to her GP about a lump/mole. The GP sent her a link to I think it was the skin doctors or similar it's used by the NHS then uploaded a photo , it was looked at within 2 days then they advise if need a face to face app. My mum did and went today all took just over a week x

Domoresteps · 14/06/2021 20:55

Your GP will check any moles for you. I just took dc about an unusual one.

You would obviously need an appointment each.

I also had several removed a few years ago by my GP.

AdoraBell · 14/06/2021 20:57

Agree, call your GP. Mine diagnosed solar keratosis from the photo I sent.

Thank you, I have one and dd has one but dh is covered in bizzare looking moles!!

I think Boots is £30 per mole.

ICanSmellSummerComing · 14/06/2021 22:22

Dh would cost hundreds!

I went to The Mole Clinic in London because I was worried about a mole on my leg. They said it was nothing to worry about. I got a second opinion from a private dermatologist who looked at it and wanted it removed immediately. It was a melanoma! Not impressed with The Mole Clinic!

ICanSmellSummerComing · 14/06/2021 22:35

Wow ok so it's a dermotligist I need then

Yes I would say for what you would pay at a mile clinic it’s probably worth paying a bit more for a private consultation with a dermatologist.

MilduraS · 15/06/2021 08:44

Agree with the suggestion of a dermatologist. I don't think they'd charge per mole either. When I went to see one for my acne, she offered to do a mole check during the consultation. She charged her basic consultation fee which I would have paid for the appointment anyway.

So am I. And so long as all of the moles kind of look the same it is fine. What is more worthy of investigation is if any of them looks very different to the rest.
Daydrambeliever · 15/06/2021 15:32

P. S. Not a doctor!

TUGGY2006 · 15/06/2021 16:37

I had similar a few years back had a few moles I wanted checked went to gp they looked and said all was OK. Fast forward a few years and I thought the one on my face had changed slightly. I should add it wasn't your typical looking mole was more like a pinkish dot like you get after a spot. Anyway it wasn't going so went to gp a number of times over about a year where they said it was nothing. In the end I think she got bored of me and referred me to a specialist he removed it and it was a basal cell carcinoma a type of skin cancer. Moral of the story if your not happy get second opinion. Id be interested in doing full body mole mapping so I'll be following this thread. Best of luck to anyone worried about a mole
