I’ve moved home recently and have this space in one of the living/ sitting rooms. It’s too big to be alcove and be shelved. If you put a couch or chair in it it would be too out of the way of the rest of the room. A snug? No need for a desk or home office. Any ideas what function I can give it? It’s currently the storer of the unpacked boxes which isn’t ideal!Inspire me please?

I've got a space almost exactly like this that is currently set up as a built in bar. It has a sink, fridge and everything. The people who lived here before us were prolific entertainers (even though the gentleman did not drink himself!). We'll probably rip it out and turn it into a storage area for kids toys. I like the idea of including a less "permanent" bar so eg a trolley or cabinet though.

For those suggesting bars, can I propose one of this lady's upcycled cabinets

I'd put a wardrobe with pull out shelves - very deep pull out shelves.

If near the kitchen I would do a pantry with nice glass jars to put pasta in etc.

If it’s living room then I would do the reading nook.

I'd put a door across it and make an enormous cupboard. Like bloody huge. Never underestimate the value of a massive cupboard!

@SprayedWithDettol

This looks fab.
I would do this.

Reading nook! Comfy chair, pouffe for feet, lamp, sorted!

Yes that there is just shouting reading nook.

MizMoonshine · 15/06/2021 07:28

There would be a book shelf and a big cozy chair and blanket going in there... Maybe a coffee machine.
CLAIM THE SPACE QUICKLY!
