Taking off sunglasses to stare at something

What does it mean when someone does this? Removes sunglasses or glasses to halfway down bridge of nose as if to look more closely at something/looks over the top of the frames as if incredulous. It happened to me and has made me feel really self conscious and like I look ridiculous. Thought it was rude.

What? How is that rude or ridiculous or anything to even think about beyond the 5 seconds it happened?

Did you do it "at" someone - perhaps looking down your nose at them or were you simply trying to get a closer look at something?

Don't stress it. It could have been me one of my 'do I know that person, I think I do, maybe not , but looks like her'moments. Lockdown has made this worse!

As long as it isn’t a person that you’re doing this to, it should be fine and it isn’t rude or weird at all IMO

Might there be a reason for it, were you singing and dancing , had decided to wear a silly hat for the day. Unless you were doing something particularly outrageous, I would just ignore.

They were probably trying to see you properly, not being rude.

It means they were trying to make eye contact/see you prpoerly.

I'd have thought most reasonable adults would have grown out of 'he/she looked at me funny' .

Sometimes I’ll look over the top of my glasses depending how far away or close something is, I can see how it looks intimidating as you’re pretty much looking through your eyebrows at someone.. which is why I try not to do it at people 😂

Misread your OP. Thought you said you did it and felt ridiculous and rude afterwards, not that someone did it and you felt ridiculous.

It's still not rude in itself to do unless it was done to make you feel ridiculous.

I'm a glass wearer and I have to look over the top of my glasses when speaking with people because if I leave them covering my full eyes I get a zoomed look at their face. My sunglasses are also prescription so the same happens.

Agree it’s more likely just to be an eye contact thing - I usually stick my sunglasses on top of my head if I’m having a full on conversation with someone but could imagine someone peering over if it’s a shorter duration.

She probably just thought she recognised you from somewhere.

You sound a bit paranoid.

Perhaps flirting then or trying to get a good look at you. Could be you looked familiar or she liked what she saw and wanted you to know by tipping the glasses down.

My sunglasses are prescription ones so I would need to do that if you were close up to me

Yes it's rude. It implies some sort of importance to them as they have to have a better look at something/someone.

Sounds like she thought she recognised you, you're massively overthinking!
