Hello
I want to move to Cornwall in a few years not a second home we don’t currently live there and would like to buy our first home there we currently rent. I’ve been on holiday and I’ve not experienced the hostile attitude some claim is present I’ve only seen that on social media but I’m concerned as I have children I worry they will experience hostility that I’ve seen people claim. So those that are from the area or moved there do you think there’s a hostility to newcomers ? Or is it just more tourism and second homes that are the issue ?
Thanks

Generally speaking I'd say people are very welcoming of people who are actually moving to Cornwall and are going to be active in the community. It's the unoccupied second homes that people really get het up about.
Just be aware of what the reality of living rurally is though. It takes along time to get anywhere. Especially in high season. Being able to drive is essential. Learning to drive in reverse down narrow lanes etc. Even if you live in town inevitably you will end up having to do it especially in high season when the tourists who can't reverse arrive!
It's wonderful down here (I live in south devon) but it is a different way of life.

Thank you all for the responses I’ve lived rurally before so understand the differences , not decided on area yet as I’ll need to look further into schools and childcare
