Does anyone live here? I visited today having grown up in the area but lived away for many years. My goodness the town centre and surrounding areas have become so rundown. No major shops left at all - so many boarded up homes in the town centre. I remembered it as quite vibrant as a teenager.

Apparently 46,770.

Blame wee Jimmy Krankie.

Kilmarnock is awful. I used to work there, left for a career change and then ended up back there again 10 years later and saw a massive change in the town.

A real shame.

Yup, live very close. It's a shithole to be honest. I used to be in the town center loads as when I was around 12-15, going to the shops etc. Hardly ever go anymore. Just about nothing left.

They won an award a few years back for being ‘most improved town’ which they advertise on some of the signs as you drive into the town. When my teenage DS saw that he laughed and wondered how bad it must’ve been before it was ‘improved’!

To be fair, these days most smaller city and town centers look terrible
