Chatty dentist

I have had a root canal recently which needed two treatments and cost me >£500. My dentist told me he liked my trainers, asked me my age and then told me I look really young for my age, massaged my jaw/ face several times when I was finding the treatment difficult (during the treatment), told me I would be famous in (European country) as I have blue eyes and blue eyes are better than brown eyes and also winked at me multiple times while telling me when to book in for my next appointment.

Is this in the realm of normal for dentists? For context I'm a consistently tired, happily married mum of two small demanding children and I find having a root canal a generally stressful experience. I'm happy with the dental treatment but feel a bit baffled at the other stuff and unsure if this is all fine or a bit weird.

Yeah that's weird. See another dentist, one that isn't inappropriate with you. I don't know if you want to complain or not.

I did come on thinking it was about when dentists ask you questions when they're fiddling around in your gob. I never sussed why they do that when you can't answer and wonder if you're rude or not.

Thanks for responding.

He was quite chatty generally and I agree it is a weird 'conversation' as you can't exactly answer or say anything most of the time during the treatment anyway.

I will look for a new dentist!
