Phone for secondary (help an idiot!)

So we need to get a first phone for our oldest before she goes up to secondary. Have sent myself really mad looking at various options so need some help if possible.

• we don't have any old handsets that are working well enough to hand down so probably need a contract or need to buy a phone outright then get a sim only deal

-She's really petite so a lot of the cheaper phones look like they'd be really big for her

• I don't want to spend a lot but also would rather have a good unlimited package so no risk of her being stranded if WiFi down etc

Any thoughts?

I did this today - as my eldest will start walking to school in sept (year six).
I went for a £6 a month deal with unlimited texts and calls from smartly and a cheap phone only (49 quid Alcatel ) from Argos

My dd is also very petite with tiny hands & it was a consideration for us too. She has a Samsung a20e on a sim only contract for £7 a month.

It does everything & works really well. She's had the odd comment that it's not cool because it's not an iPhone but she's not too bothered about it & we all have Samsung's at home.
