Exercise clothing for curvy women

NoEffingWaytoSurvive · 11/06/2021 00:28

I am a 16/18, and have had a hard time finding high quality clothing for exercise, specifically bouldering. The largest I can find is in a size 14, I would need to lose five inches off my waist according to the size chart!

I hate leggings, they all fall down and make me self-conscious.

Any suggestions for brands worth looking into?

Mark's and Spencer's sports stuff is really nice. Leggings don't fall down.

Leggings don't fall down in your buy the correct size rather than too small.

I'm a size 18. US PRO are good. I have their stuff in an 18, it's either XL or XXL I think. I also have some gym leggings from Next because I needed petite ones. I was surprised at the quality of them TBH.

Nike do some 'plus' sized really comfortable stuff so I'd assume they do 16/18 too either in the plus or standard stuff.

Have a look at Craghoppers for outdoor trousers if you don't want leggings. Great for all starters, plenty of pockets and don't fall down.

enjoyingscience · 11/06/2021 07:47

Contra do a really wide range of sizes - they are def worth a look

hopeishere · 11/06/2021 07:48

I bought Sweaty Betty leggings and they are fine. As are my M&S ones and I'm the same size as you.

cantmovewont · 11/06/2021 07:50

Gym shark are great and I have also had few problems with my sweaty Betty and lululemon leggings. Look out for a wide waistband....

AuntieStella · 11/06/2021 07:52

Try Contra

contra-movement.com

or Decathlon (who go to size 22 for some garments) and who are definitely the best VFM going. I've had loads of very high performance items from them

rookiemere · 11/06/2021 08:00

I was going to say M&S. There should be reductions on their current range of sports wear soon as it's been out a wee while. Quality of leggings much better than Decathlon and around £19.50-25 per pair depending if you go capri or full length. Join sparks as sometimes you get spot reductions.

2andahalfpints · 11/06/2021 08:01

I have some gym leggings from uniqlo and they are the best - not see through at all and high waisted with a thick waistband so they stay up.

HighlandCowbag · 11/06/2021 08:03

Fabletics leggings don't fall down and you can sign up for 2 pairs for £24. Then cancel as soon as you have received your order. They are really thick and stretchy but the high waist band ones are fab. I like the go anywhere ones for running in and I'm bigger than you, size 18ish.

motogogo · 11/06/2021 08:10

Mine are from sports direct, never fall down £10

LittleMissA · 11/06/2021 08:11

Tikiboo leggings are fantastic and very flattering too so I feel confident when exercising in them. They are mainly bright colours but good quality and don't fall down! There is also a fab Facebook group that is very friendly and supportive!

Dazzylazzy · 11/06/2021 08:27

Lucy pocket loves are high waisted and don’t move at all. Size down would be my advice as they come up big.

larrythelizard · 11/06/2021 08:52

I've found sprayaway to do bigger sizes

www.sprayway.com

I have a waterproof and walking shorts from them (couldn't get Rab or anything big enough).

Got them from go outdoors

Crazycrazylady · 11/06/2021 10:52

Lululemon are fabulous in larger sizes.
Eye wateringly expensive though!

Twinkie01 · 11/06/2021 10:56

Sweaty Betty is your friend, they go up to xxl. Nike also do a curvy range

NoEffingWaytoSurvive · 11/06/2021 11:15

Success! Got some Rab from cotswold outdoor in a 16. My arse must have got a bit smaller Grin
