RECALL: Mamas and Papas Armadillo Flip XT

Hi,

i know it was a while back now but I’m wondering if anyone is still on here who had the mamas and papas armadillo flip xt when it was recalled over a safety issue of the pushchair seat dropping back or knows anything about this.

basically I have one as my silver cross travel system doesn’t fit in my car very well and when used yesterday twice the seat dropped back and my child tipped luckily was strapped in so not injured but I wanted to know if it was the seat that was the problem or the chassis?

if it’s the seat I can buy a replacement seat.

also, I’m wondering if this was a problem that can happen at anytime or if I made sure it was secure and all clipped in fully it would stay secure or if it can just come loose at anytime? As if so I could still use.

thanks!

I had one at the time. It was the chassis that was recalled and not the seat. A couple of times it did tip right back, fortunately neither time with DC1 in it.

We got a temporary chassis while ours was repaired and once we got it back it was fine all the way through use with DC2 as well.

Although they said there was an issue I think it could be prevented by always ensuring it was completely clicked in. I couldn't say for certain that the times it happened to me were a fault or were just that I hadn't done it properly.

Thank you for your reply :)

Oh okay so if I got a replacement seat it wouldn’t make a difference then!

I want to try it again if I ensure it’s always fully clicked in but I’m so paranoid too, bit scary, I’ve tried being quite rough with it, banging it around with my child not in it and it hasn’t done it again so yes maybe it is if it isn’t clicked in properly.

Maybe I’ll have to not take the risk and get another one!

Thank you x

I would carry on using it. I only bothered getting ours sent back becuase they called and offered. It should be fine if you've made sure the frame is definitely clicked into place fully and the seat is fully clicked in too.

It was a great buggy! I loved the one hand fold on it.

Okay thank you I will then.
It’s just a bit worrying when your child suddenly ends up tipped back it did startle her the first time. Just don’t want it happening again.

I may just call mamas and papas to ensure, I’d hate to not be able to use it as you say it’s a lovely pushchair

Thank you for your help :)

It was a problem with a loose catch that could happen in certain conditions (when using across uneven ground for example). Ensuring your child is fully strapped in can mitigate the risk of injury if it happens but I don’t think you can stop it from happening if yours is faulty. Contact mamas and papas and they should inspect it and fix it for free to ensure it is safe to continue using.

When it happened the other day Botha times I was stood not moving so definitely a bit worrying. Thank you. I contacted mamas and papas and they are going to collect it and repair it! I was surprised I thought that they wouldn’t because it’s so many years down the line now however I guess at the end of the day it’s the safety of a baby, so relived now.
Thank you x
