Going rate for babysitter

Hi, I have a 15 year old looking after my 7 and 10 year old this weekend for 4 hours. I'm rural ish in the North if that makes a difference. Do you pay by the hour or by the evening and what's the going rate likely to be?

There won't be that much to do, 7 year old will be ready for bed and will just need to be told to get in bed to read, then told to turn off lights at x time. 10 year old will again just need to be told to go up and to turn off lights.

Someone on here will tell you no less than minimum wage, someone else will tell you they used to get a fiver and a bag of chips Grin
I’ve never used an actual babysitter, always family if we wanted to go out for the night.
About 10 years ago my sister used to come round (age16) and we would give her £20, order her in a takeaway and she would sleep here.
She was happy with that.

I would say about 25 pound for 4 hours for a 15 year old

My 15 yo gets £10ph but we are in London so maybe not comparable.

£6 per hour

Yes Chosen, I used to get £5, can of coke and 2 chocolate bars for babysitting 3 young kids next door including very young one!

I'll go with £25 then - also fits in with the £6 an hour.

Thank you, really helpful.
