I’m selling some clothes. One item is a bra. It’s sold for £1.70. I’m in the UK. The buyer has now sent me this.

Hello! My mother is thrilled I got this for her to give to my sister, X who is a huge Kelly Brook fan! She just happened to have seen this and told mum. We will give to X on her birthday in August. BUT I now see that shipping to Canada is an issue. DARN!! Let s work this out. I will pay YOU 15 pounds, not 1.70. The shipping costs are all mine, you just send the invoice. Please ship in a box so the cups don t get crushed (yes, will cost more), and we both need tracking. TA!!

I’m not shipping to Canada. This sounds like nonsense. How do I go about cancelling the sale? Will I get negative feedback? I have 100% positive.

So are they expecting you to post it before payment?

I think you can end the sale for whatever reason. You will have to take the risk of a negative review. Maybe if they do, contact ebay and see if they can get it removed.

I interpreted it as they would pay you £15 plus the actual shipping costs. So you would find the cost from, say Royal Mail, send them the invoice of £15 pus shipping cost. They would then pay you that amount and you would then ship it.

Just had similar with a dc coat I had for sale in9 Gumtree.. Wanted my bank details as they wanted it sent secured postage.
A 5 quid jacket!!
I just blocked them.

There seems to be a new scam going around where people request shipping but they send you their external link to arrange the shipping and the scam happens when people are fooled into putting their account details in. It's been common on gumtree

Ahhh! Sounds like the same thing then! This person had included their email address at the end of the second email.

If you don’t feel comfortable it’s fine to cancel. I sold an iPad a while back and I specified I was shipping UK only, and restricted the sale to UK only settings. The guy who won it had a UK paypal address but wanted me to send it to Turkey, he’d said send me the additional postage. I refused and said I’d only ship to a UK address and he got really arsey and said it was his iPad now and reported me to eBay! Luckily they sided with me (I refunded him fully).

Surely the language alone is enough to realise it's total shite. Honestly I'm pretty sure scammers like this just pick these phrases right out of some universal scammers handbook.
