Are they back yet and do they have to social distance?

Brownies are back every other week as group has been halved - they started outside and are now inside too. Scouts back but outside only and Guides not back at all. Depends on how enthusiastic the leaders are IMO.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/06/2021 12:16

Yes. Since March. Outside when possible, as spread out as possible.
Scouts have to wear masks indoors.

dollophead · 09/06/2021 12:16

no social distancing as far as I can tell...

ThisMustBeMyDream · 09/06/2021 12:17

Nope. Nothing. Can't get any info out of them about it either. Bemused...

ChocOrange1 · 09/06/2021 12:19

My Brownies have been meeting outside fortnightly since April (on Zoom on the in between weeks). Now the weather is better, we are planning to meet outside weekly.
The Brownies do have to social distance, which is ridiculous as they're all at school together but GGUK are very strict on the rules. Really hoping they will drop social distancing at the next rule change 🙏

chillychicken · 09/06/2021 12:20

Beavers are back. Socially distanced in a bigger hall than normal and outdoor activities resuming from next week.

Louloulemony · 09/06/2021 12:21

Beavers back this week outdoors only. No social distancing required for kids.

bonbonours · 09/06/2021 12:23

Our Cubs are back but only outside this term. If it's going to piss down they revert to zoom even though they "allowed" to meet indoors. Seems to be a lot of variation which is fair enough as the leaders are volunteers and each have their own comfort level depending on their vaccination status etc.

ChocOrange1 · 09/06/2021 12:27

@Louloulemony

Beavers back this week outdoors only. No social distancing required for kids.
Are you in England, Scotland or Wales, (or elsewhere) ?
MrsFionaCharming · 09/06/2021 12:29

Our Scouts and Guides are back (outdoors only by leaders choice), younger sections not back yet.

Firenight · 09/06/2021 12:29

Beavers since March and Scouts since late April.

I am a Guide leader with DDs in brownies and rainbows. My Guides are doing a mix of meeting in person and on zoom this term. We have been to a couple of local parks and campsites. Brownies is meeting in person in the church hall. They have had some meetings out but I think they would have done that anyway regardless of Covid to make the most of the light evenings and be outside. Rainbows is still on zoom for various administrative reasons, but hopes to start back in a couple of weeks. They are all supposed to social distance from the adults and the other girls. We can’t have bubbles in guiding like they do in school. It is very hard to enforce with Guides because they are excited to see their friends and are not used to it. I have no idea how Rainbows leaders manage it. It is also challenging to come up with activities that can be done social distanced without any shared equipment.

JocastaNu · 09/06/2021 12:34

Beavers / Cubs / Scouts - back since the start of the Summer term, outdoors only. Lucky enough to have the space to do this. If they have to go indoors to use loo etc they need to wear a mask. Social distancing is officially required but only practiced when photos are being taken for social media Wink

SkankingMopoke · 09/06/2021 12:40

DD's Beaver colony are back on a 2 week rota (half the group each time) with the meetings held outside.

Equimum · 09/06/2021 12:44

DSs Beaver colony started back after Easter, but mainly doing outdoor activities.

leafinthewind · 09/06/2021 12:49

I'm a Cub leader in England and we're back in person, outdoors. The Scout Association says we have to maintain social distancing, with more emphasis on adults distancing from children than children from each other. Meetings always start and end well-distanced, but we have varying degrees of success in the middle. I keep my sixes apart, which limits the risk, but I'm not always successful at keeping the Cubs apart from one another. And I'm still having weekly arguments about whether they need to sanitize (yes, Harry, you do).

Flump9 · 09/06/2021 12:55

We've been told they will be outside and need to strictly social distance. So outside the gates the current rules in England mean they can hug their friends but they have to be 2m apart when they're in cubs. I think it must have come from head office but i don't understand the reasoning. Social distancing from the leaders I can understand but not the kids.

Yes, only since this week! Outdoor meetings only, strict social distancing, must take hand sanitizer and I had to fill out consent forms and read the risk assessment Confused seems like massive overkill to me, I'd be fine with them mixing indoors but also appreciate they are volunteers and won't want to isolate for an infected child, so it's better than nothing.

Curious2021 · 09/06/2021 13:04

Back but outside. No social distancing.

EvilPea · 09/06/2021 13:10

Yes all scouts back here, have been back since easter. Social distancing questionable, but it is outside.

Although i believe scouts have just tightened up guidelines a bit as they are concerned about the Delta variant.

yes this. outside. when it rains cancelled or inside. masks for scouts, not for cubs.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are back since part way through last half term. Meetings are outside, social distancing and Scouts have to wear masks/ face covering.

Beamur · 09/06/2021 13:15

Guides and Rangers have been meeting throughout. On zoom when not allowed in person. Outside otherwise (regardless of the weather they don't cancel)
No Brownies though as not enough Leaders at the moment

Pantah630 · 09/06/2021 13:19

We, Cubs, went back face to face yesterday after months on zoom. Outside only as our hut is having work, socially distanced as we can as we have children from four different schools at last count. It was great to be back but one hour was enough Grin
