Telegram app?

Can anyone tell me about an app called Telegram? Is it similar to WhatsApp? I suspect my OH messaging someone through it

Wats ap with out giving phone number. Just user name. Like KIK also.

it needs a phone no but you can chose to not display it.
it's very common, especially now that whatsapp has changed t&c and many switched to telegram instead.

I have it. It's a messaging app, not a dating app.

I didn't know about usernames. All my contacts are added by phone from my contacts list.

It was a bit ahead of whatsapp previously as you can do private messaging, deleting messaging etc. It's way more popular now as you can add more people to a group that you can on whatsapp.

We used it as a family so some of the older members could use it on their iPads without a phone number, just with an email address.
Apart from that, very similar to WhatsApp.
It does tell me now if one of my phone contacts joins.

If you are asking I'm assuming you have found it on a partners phone? More secure than WhatsApp and along lines of wire and KIK.

@CombatBarbie yes, found it on my partners phone also another woman's picture and phone number (no name) in his "most contacted" telegram is the most used app so am putting 2+2 together and hoping I'm not coming up with 5
