Amazon refused refund

Looking for advice. Bought a product over £100 from Amazon which was sold by a third party . The handle on the product seemed very week and we had concerns about it breaking easily. Contacted Amazon who forwarded details to seller . Told to return product. We personally delivered product to sellers warehouse but couldn’t access the building due to roadworks.Company had a security person outside who took product off us . Now company is claiming they never received the product and are refusing a refund. Any advice ? Have been told we should of used a courier but we delivered it ourselves because we live nearby and company said they may not refund courier costs .

Ask your bank to do a chargeback.

Do we have to have used a credit card to do a chargeback?

Thanks fir your advice.
I suspect Amazon are being very lazy investigating our claim . It’s easy to confirm the roadworks if they contact the council.
We feel it’s very easy for the company to deny receiving the goods as we did not use a courier.
