I passed one in Edinburgh today, called Fair-A-Far Shot, which is quite unusual.

I also know of a small hamlet, not street, called Willie Stack’s Clump, which just makes me smile.

Whiteladies Road and Blackboy Hill in Bristol

Have a street called Bell End not far from where I live lol

Not a street name, but Sexey's School in Bruton always strikes me as an unlikely name for a school.

That one always makes me snigger too. Who needs graffiti and the back of the bike sheds for public expressions of immaturity when the person naming the actual school has done all the work for you?!

The other educational establishment name that always makes me laugh is Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln - sounds like it should be a puerile rapper calling himself Rev Nasstyballz rather than the name of a uni Grin

Also, there are a surprising number of old folks' homes throughout the country on roads called St Peter's Close Grin

garlictwist · 09/06/2021 06:25

In Leeds there is a Cavalier Approach

ReginaPhalangee · 09/06/2021 06:35

We may have sniggered as we drive past the Pant Play Area Grin

My friend lives in Wales. Not the country, the village in South Yorkshire.
It ce up on a thread recently and caused instant confusion

I'm sure I remember a small alley in St Ives called Salubrious Row. Sadly there was no Unsalubrious Row nearby.

There's a small road behind Manchester Lime St station called Sparkle Street - and it's sadly a bit of a dump, industrial units etc.

Don't you mean Manchester Piccadilly? Lime Street is Liverpool.

@bonbonours

We used to live on Blackboy Road, Exeter. Also there's one in Margate called Hatfeild Rd. Yes, with the field spelt wrong, that is really the name, apparently named after someone (whose ancestors couldn't spell field lol)
'Feild' is an Anglo Saxon name - not a misspelling!

Yup there is an Edward Feild Primary school just outside Oxford.

FunnyWonder · 09/06/2021 10:08

There's a Semicock Road in Ballymoney, County Antrim.

We're not far from the Giant's Ring in Belfast. Plenty of guffawing at that one. Have you been up the Giant's Ring? etc

I was disappointed to see recently that Slag Lane had been renamed

emmathedilemma · 09/06/2021 10:18

Check out the shape of Bellenden Gardens in Edinburgh Grin

SprayGunForBanksy · 09/06/2021 10:21

There's a Swagwater Lane near me which i love.

SprayGunForBanksy · 09/06/2021 10:24

There's also a house in my town called Clive. Just that, Clive. Like he's a member of their family. Nothing posh, standard 50s build. Like I imagine a Clive to be!

We once went on a day trip from our home in the Midlands and popped over to Egypt for a short while - it's in Buckinghamshire!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 09/06/2021 10:52

I hear that the original Clive and his very good friend Dennis became rather prosperous in later life and upgraded to a a somewhat grander house in Bucks, that they again named after themselves Grin

PussGirl · 09/06/2021 10:55

There's a road in Yarm called Larun Beat - no idea!

This caused a great deal of confusion for some Icelandic football fans when Wales were hosting a Euro match 4 (8?) years ago.

Wales (village) is not far from Jump (village).

Yes, one very central county council building in my area is called Seax House. The name sign is created with separate letters. Whoever manufactures them must have to make 3 times more 'A's than the rest of the alphabet.
Mymapuddlington · 09/06/2021 12:09

Miami Beach and New York. Both in Lincolnshire Grin

I know a pub called 'The Grand Turk' where the owners made the mistake of opting for individual separate letters for the sign on the outside wall. Would you fancy going for a nice glass of wine at 'The rank Turd'?! Grin

TinaYouFatLard · 09/06/2021 12:45

I live quite near Cum-Cum Hill Blush
