Quick question re WhatsApp if anyone can help please?

DD has been getting grief from a girl at school over half term, which continued today at school so DD has now blocked this girl on WhatsApp. I’ve checked DD’s phone and this girl viewed DD’s status an hour ago
I’m wondering if this is purely due to the timings (as the status was updated and available for girl to view before she was blocked) or if even though the girl is blocked, DD will still have to make her status’ invisible to girl every time she updates it? So,
8am - DD updated status
4pm - DD blocked girl
9pm - girl viewed DD’s status
Any ideas?

How did dd block the girls number?? On phone or on WhatsApp?

In my experience they need to be blocked on the app to stop seeing status etc. Not just on phone

To block on what's app you have to block via what's app not via the phone.

So she will need to block her on what's app then phone and text via the phone.

If she has done that then I presume what's app doesn't block status?

Missing the point entirely but how can you see when someone has looked at your status? I didn’t know this was a thing!

She blocked her on WhatsApp. If she clicks on her conversation with this girl, it says “you have blocked this contact”

I did try and google but the thread I read, people were saying different things.

Buzzing if you click on “my status” there’s a very small eye at the bottom, which shows you who has viewed it. I didn’t know either, DD showed me

Go to settings, privacy, then you can change who views what.
From what I can tell if you’ve blocked someone they can still view so you’d have to block on the status part etc

Ah, I don’t think I’ve ever given myself a status so maybe that’s why ... is it something young people do?!

Sorry for your DD though, I hope you can get it sorted.

You can select who sees the status updates. Your daughter will need to untick the girls name from the list

I also think when you block someone, they can still see anything you wrote prior to blocking them. I know blocking stops them contacting you, but I’m not 100% what it does in the other direction.

When you go into WhatsApp there are 3 tabs along the top - Chats, Status and Calls. If you have a dot next to Status then someone has updated their status. You click and then can view it.
