Trip to London - 3 nights/4 days

Hi All

I am wanting to book a short break to London over the summer, 2 adults and 2 children - I was thinking of booking a Premier Inn, possibly at Kings Cross then travel around by underground. I have not been to London for a long time and taking DC for the first time - is Kings Cross a decent base for visiting tourist attractions in the day?

Also, other than the obvious tourist attractions, does anyone have any recommendations for things to do/places to eat? I have been recommended to visit the Magnum Shop for ice creams - has anyone been?

Thank you.

Yes I would say Kings X is a great base. There are loads of bus routes and tube lines going through there so very easy to get to most places. The area itself is lovely too. How old are the DC?

Kings Cross is a good base as the transport is good.

The Premier Inn at County Hall would also be fantastic: right on the South Bank for all the attractions there abd a choice of places to eat.

Get a boat down to Greenwich, Cutty Sark, the Maritime Museum, walk up through the very lovely Greenwich Park for great views over London, and the Date Line and Astronomy Museum. Cutty Sark is fantastic to see even if you don’t pay to go inside, ditto (if it is open) the astronomy museum is free as is Maritime.

I’ve only ever walked past the Magnum store. It was popular but didn’t seem worth the price. We prefer Chin Chin Desert Labs and Bubblewrap for ice creams.

Some of our favourite places to eat:
My Old Dutch pancakes
Inamo
Pizza Pilgrims

Walk through China town into Leicester Square and visit the Lego Store and M&M world. Both shops are quite an experience even if you don’t buy anything.
If they’re Harry Potter fans, then there’s an expensive shop in Kings Cross, plus a photo op with the trolley going into the wall on platform 9 and three quarters. They’d also like the House of MinaLima in Soho.
