Thinking of getting a Tesla and would love to know your pros and cons. Looking at a Model 3 long range.

We have had a model S for just over 4 years now, never had any regrets, still love it, no desire to change it. What has been more noticeable since the Model 3 though is that the super chargers are getting much busier. At one on the way to Cornwall recently all chargers were full and 10 Teslas were waiting... never had to wait in our 4 years and over 60000 miles so this does concern me a little.. still love the car though.

@mice same here, we’ve had our model s for 4 years too and it’s getting harder to find chargers that are available. Also the fact that there are more electric cars in general means that even the other electric charge points are always busy and the more people connected, the slower the charge.

Aside from that it’s an amazing car. I’d definitely recommend. Great for long journeys especially for people like me who suffer from travel sickness. It’s so smooth I don’t feel anything.

Thanks. We have a 4x4 now abd I like being high up, so a Tesla is low down which is a bit ‘annoying’. The polestar is slightly higher and nice but their finance options are rubbish. Does the Tesla have One Pedal?

I've been considering one too but no one around here will repair or service electric cars and there's no dealership in my city so I don't know what I'd do if something went wrong.

I think we will get one. Thanks for the comments.

The model x is a considerably higher vehicle but also a higher price point.

We have had Teslas since 2014, a Model S - still going strong in new owner's hands and two Model Xs. Still have one X as our family needs have changed and we withdrew an option to swap a 4 year old X for a Model 3. The X does give the higher 4x4 ride height and DH thinks price point is adjusting downwards with more competition in that market area.
We charge at home and haven't taken any long journeys for a while, so can't comment on the Tesla charger uptake, but at least you can see how busy a charging area is on screen before arriving at the area so could adjust your charging planning. There are many more Model 3s around now, regularly see 5 just in local travel.
Servicing is getting easier and more local. We have used 3 Tesla service sites that were convenientish (one linked to holiday travel when Tesla offered a drop at the airport and pick up on return then worked on vehicle while you were away; one linked to work location with loan car available) and have now moved to one much closer to home. New Tesla service site is closer than the service locations for the two other non Tesla cars we had previously.
Would definitely recommend if you can afford.

There is a mobile Tesla service that we have used once at home. Comes in a kitted out Model S.

Is the an organized Tessa marketing campaign on here, I'm sure I read an almost identical thread just yesterday Grin

I don't have one but the people I know who do have them as company cars and tell me there's some kind of tax reason for that. I don't know the details.

pollyannaperspective · 09/06/2021 18:52

DH is/was an early adopter. Many conversations with owners down the years and I truly can't remember a negative response. DH can be quite evangelical!
