Been asked to send though ID for a new job

I went for a job interview on Friday. They’ve now just emailed me and asked for copies of my ID but not offered me the job. Is this a good sign? Or do you think they’re doing this to everyone?

Its usual once you have received and accepted an offer. Do they need to do some additional checks before they offer?

It's proof of the right to work in the UK. I would say it looks promising

HotChocolateLover · 07/06/2021 13:03

Literally no idea. It’s NHS and in the past I’ve accepted 3 jobs and they’ve always asked for the ID after offering and me accepting. I’m just really confused. Surely if I’d done absolutely terribly then they would just rule me out and not even ask for ID?

They will need to perform DBS checks. Is your role a safeguarding type? Standard for checks to be undertaken before job is offered.

HotChocolateLover · 07/06/2021 13:05

@girl71 It’s mainly to do with finance but safeguarding is always an issue.

It is prob both then, the finance and safeguarding. They may want to check you have no undisclosed criminal convictions etc. Positive sign that you are in consideration for role. Good luck.

Ive been to job interviews with the NHS and some of them have asked me to bring ID and proof and qualifications to the interview, some only want that stuff afterwards. Id say it looks promising, otherwise they wouldnt bother asking.

ZarkingBell · 07/06/2021 14:12

NHS usually asks you to bring to interview!

AppleDumplin · 07/06/2021 14:17

I work in recruitment and we ask candidates to bring ID to the interview.

If they're asking for ID after interview I'd say that's a good sign, they'll need it to check right to work etc and they wouldn't bother with that post interview if you weren't going to be offered the job would they?

🤞🤞🤞

HotChocolateLover · 07/06/2021 14:19

That’s my thought @AppleDumplin Got my fingers and toes crossed!

it's right to work checks, they should be asking everyone

GooodMythicalMorning · 07/06/2021 14:24

I'd say good sign though.

BlueSurfer · 07/06/2021 14:30

Hopefully it’s a good sign but for many jobs, you need to provide ID at the time of the interview.
