Anyone know Garstang?

We're on the move, looking at Lancaster Garstang and environs.
Property in Lancs is selling faster than we can view but Garstang appears to be much slower.

I've been to the Booths in Garstang and it was lovely! I would suggest that those living in the area are more likely to be retired, so perhaps that's why the property market is slower.

I live closer to Preston but know Garstang relatively well.

It's really well regarded and seen as being quite 'posh' and like pp said, it's got more of a retired/slow pace feel. We go occasionally for a Sunday pub lunch and it's a lovely little place.

Work wise you'd probably need to look more towards Preston or Lancaster depending on the field you're in, but you'd only be 10 miles away from either

Watch out for flood risk from the River Wyre……. Otherwise lovely.

I'm closer to Preston. I wouldn't personally live in Garstang. Like others have said, pace of life a bit too slow for us with young kids. Nothing wrong with the place, it's nice enough just not for us. But handy to get anywhere. Bit closer to Preston but Lancaster not that much further the other direction. Okay for the motorway. Lakes/seaside accessible.

But know what you say about the housing market round here it's Bonkers ATM and you have to move quick. We're in the process of selling and finding something to move onto was a nightmare.y

Lancaster house prices seem quite mad, we have seen a lovely house in Garstang, offers all the space we need and more plus a very private garden. Can't get anything like that in Lancs.

We're looking to move to Catterall next year (in the much hated new builds) but I've really impressed on what is on offer for my teenage girls when we do move :-)

I work in Preston and it will be the ideal place for me work wise too x I joined the local Facebook group to gauge anti social behaviour & what is on offer to my children and I'm impressed! Saving like mad now to get where we need to be!
