Has anyone ever tried hypnotherapy for anxiety related insomnia?

I have suffered from bouts of anxiety related insomnia for years on and off. When I am feeling well,
I sleep well and my doctor has always prescribed sleeping pills to help
Me through these periods but they are becoming less effective and the GP will not prescribe them forever. I am becoming concerned that I am developing a reliance on sleep tablets that will eventually run out and be in a constant state of sleeplessness (irrational I know and realise that a lot of this is my anxiety and depression distort
My thinking). I have tried CBT in the past and didn't find it useful. I am also on sertraline and have been for a number of years. A couple of people have suggested hypnotherapy but I am quite sceptical but willing to try. Has anyone else had hypnotherapy for this issue? I really need to change my thought processes and learn to relax myself without turning to pills. Have tried breathing techniques, sleep meditation and they don't work. When I sleep well I can sleep like a teenager but the bouts of insomnia seem
To last longer the older I get and i
Am feeling more and more desperate and quite depressed.

I have anxiety related insomnia and have started doing "stillness meditation" which I have found extremely helpful.

It literally just involves sitting with your eyes closed for 10+ minutes before bed.

No "ohmms', no incense, no trying to imaging a beach or whatever.

Literally just closing your eyes and sitting. You can read more about it here (I got this lady's book but tbh you don't necessarily even need it: stillnessmeditation.com.au)

Thank you for your reply and for the link. I have tried meditation apps before which have given some relief and rest.

The insomnia is relentless when I'm going through a depressive episode and it's just so mentally tiring and it's driven by anxiety which I can't seem to get on top of. Been through it so many times and it always passes but I am fed up of relying on sleeping medication. A couple of people have suggested hypnotherapy as a more long term solution to address my anxiety and sleep issues but am a little wary.
