What was going on with this in the supermarket?

So today I was in Morrison's earlier paying for stuff at the self service tills. A man walked up behind me (I think), leaned over and looked like he was scanning something around my till area. He was wearing high vis so in the moment he looked like he worked there, but as he walked away he didn't so much. I had just paid and a ticket had come out at the top with a QR code on it. Any ideas what he was doing? Could he have been scanning the QR code? What is on the QR code thing that comes out after you pay, does anyone know? 🤔 there were things stacked behind the till so it could be something behind. I do appreciate it's not much to go on, but mumsnetters frequently know the most random of things...

If someone leaned over me from behind while I was paying at the til, I'm afraid I'd have stopped and asked what he was doing! Did you look to see where he went after? Ask the other staff?

Did you pay and then he scanned something or way you still paying?

Also what’s the car parking situation? Was he getting a free parking space?

Sainsburys sometimes gives you weird QR with your receipt which gives you money off petrol/extra nectar points on petrol...sounds like that but would have to get very very close to do that

I'd paid. The QR popped out after I paid. Not parking as it's free for a couple of hours anyway. And he went back into the store and was still there down the other end when I left. There was a staff member there and she looked non plussed which added to my not reacting very much till after the event
