British Museum paid exhibitions - do they include general entry?

Want to take the DC to the British Museum but no timed slots for the day we want to go.

I also want to book one of the paid exhibitions - do those tickets include access to the main museum?

I booked tickets for one of the exhibitions a couple of weeks back, assumed it would be okay then got the reminder and couldn't get time tickets for the general entry at all.

On the day we went to the exhibition, and then afterwards I went to the tickets desk and asked and was given walk in tickets there and then so could rejoin the general walk around.

That's really helpful, thanks - do the walk-in tickets depend on availability on the day, do you know?

No idea, I can't see how you would be able to just walk in if you didn't have an exhibition ticket however so presume they must have some spare capacity.
