Derbyshire - recommendations for family days out

Looking to stay in Derbyshire in the summer. What are the must do days out? The kids are 6 and 9.

Also have a dh who loves walks and nature so anything that ticks those boxes too.

Heights of Abraham
Crich Tramway
Chatsworth
Speedwell Cavern
Haddon Hall
Gulliver’s Kingdom

It depends where you are staying.

In the northern part there is Castleton which has Peveril Castle and also the Blue John mines. There is another mine, Speedwell Cavern where you can go in boats underground. There is a tourist information centre there with leaflets for nice little walks.

Another favourite with our DC was Dovedale which is a lovely walk along a river bank. There are stepping stones along the way and a slow shallow bit where they can paddle. Nice ice cream in the car park.

Matlock has the Heights of Abraham. You go up in a cable car and there is a little cavern at the top an again little walks. Matlock has a seaside feel if I remember correctly.

Derby Ram Sculpture Trail which is all around Derby city centre from May 27th until August 22nd. 30 giant sculptures around city centre.
Museum of Making in silk mill in derby city centre. Just opened in May and it's in the world's first Mill. Stunning.
Spring Lakes in Long Eaton. Has big inflatable course set on lake and has a beach.
Carsington Water, lovely for bike rides.
Tissington Trail. Monsall Trail.
If I think of anything else I'll put it on.

Lathkill Dale is a lovely walk too. Great place for some unusual wildflowers.

Peak district kids is a great website/social media page with lots of info of stuff to do with kids
