Walsall

We are heading to Walsall soon for a family occasion, the actual event will be fairly boring for the kids so we are looking for something to do the next day before we travel back that they will enjoy. They are 11 and 14. Ideally something that we couldn't just do where we are in the North East. I was thinking possibly Tamworth Snowdome? Or does anyone have any other ideas?

Drayton Manor?

There's Go Ape at Cannock Chase, but I guess that's something you would have anywhere?

Alton Towers? Not super close to Walsall but it's somewhere that would take much longer from the NE.

Black Country museum is great and only 25 minutes away. It’s like beamish though which you might have already done.

Lichfield is lovely for a walk around.

If the weather is nice, Sandwell Valley has a farm and amazing outdoor play area. It's in West Bromwich about 20 minutes away. I think there's a mini fairground there too.

If not too much of a detour Trentham Monkey Forest near Stoke

Conkers in Derbyshire

Another for the Black Country Living Museum.

Walsall has the museum of leather and Ikea!

Rainbowsew · 06/06/2021 23:22

The black country museum is just like Beamish. I love them both but it won't be the different experience you're looking for.

How long do you have to spend in the area? And what area are you driving home to? Could recommend something near your route home.

There is the arboretum in Walsall, art gallery and a couple of museums. Shopping not brilliant.

Oops, just saw you are from North East.

Snowdome is awesome for teenagers, ice skating, rock climbing and swimming. You could get a day ticket to do a few activities.

Showtime is fab, my kids love the tobaganing. Cliff Lakes is also in Tamworth, it's aqua park type place.

*Snowdome

There’s also Segway hire at the Go Ape on Cannock Chase. Also there’s a cycle hire place just across from there and there are purpose built bike trails for all abilities.
