Neighbours - brief visitors at 3.45am?

Ellenthegenerous · 06/06/2021 05:15

Humour me - why would neighbours have a brief visitor in a car with an illegally loud exhaust at 3.45am? Visitor was there less than 5 mins . . .

Drug drop off

Ellenthegenerous · 06/06/2021 05:16

The illegally loud exhaust is relevant because they woke up me, partner and kids!

That’s exactly what I thought Dragon

Mate giving them a lift home from somewhere or picking someone up from a gathering?

Ilikewinter · 06/06/2021 05:31

Dropping off drugs

ChatterMonkey · 06/06/2021 05:39

If it was a drugs drop off then they clearly arent very big time, a bit stupid and will get caught soon.

Proper dealers would want something a bit subtler and less attention seeking. Than a loud car that everyone notices.

Furrybutts · 06/06/2021 06:03

I would say drugs too. I have a neighbour who I suspect of dealing, who often has brief visitors at odd hours.
I take my dogs out very early, and once returned around 5.30am on a Sunday to see something being passed out through his living room window. The recipient was parked right under the window with his car engine running.

However, as a shift worker I have sometimes collected something I have bought on Facebook Marketplace at odd hours.

I'm going to think good of people.
Medication needed. Someone being dropped off. Someone being picked up for work. Wrong address.....
Loads of possibilities.

JuneJustRains · 06/06/2021 06:13

I would assume it was a milk van, but I clearly live a very boring life.

endofthelinefinally · 06/06/2021 06:26

My milk and veg is delivered between 3 and 4am. I never hear the vehicle though and I am a very light sleeper.

RoseAndRose · 06/06/2021 06:30

Agree that if it's a criminal, it's a very stupid criminal.

JM10 · 06/06/2021 06:34

How do you know it was a brief visit and not someone being dropped home? That's what I would assume.

RoseAndRose · 06/06/2021 06:47

@JM10

How do you know it was a brief visit and not someone being dropped home? That's what I would assume.
Agree - driver assisted passenger into house.

You heard car arrive, door open, door shut, 5 mins later door reopen and shut and car leave. Could have been two on epway in and one on way out?

Or are you trying to tell us you were curtain twitching at that time?

MrMucker · 06/06/2021 06:48

Maybe they were doing it on purpose because they think of you as an MYOB neighbour who would go looking for chinwags about it straight after.

HeartZone · 06/06/2021 06:50

Seriously ill person in the house and the visitor was offering assistance/ lift to A&E?

BakewellGin1 · 06/06/2021 06:55

Drug Deal...
Drop off home from a late night...

Suprisingly my DP live in a pretty decent neighbourhood but have a dealer on street backing on to them... Many cars (we think next level down dealers and users) drive down to back gate, collect something, turn around and leave again within a few minutes - none of the cars are quiet either they don't drive so you wouldn't notice them either.. Blatantly obvious but they dont care.

Onlinedilema · 06/06/2021 06:57

Drugs

MrsWombat · 06/06/2021 07:36

Sounds like a very stupid criminal. My neighbours get their drugs delivered to their house by electric scooter. But we also get other drug dealers use our block to deal car to car. Driver drops dealer off then drives around the block. Dealer goes and sits in customers car to do the deal, by which time the driver has come back.

Switch over of body guards
Alien landing
MI5 safe house
Pizza delivery
Covid isolation check.

The possibilities are endless.

user1471538283 · 06/06/2021 07:50

A drug drop by a lower level dealer who thinks they are flash, successful and untouchable. When in fact they are taking all the risks for very little reward.

Hufflepuffsunite · 06/06/2021 07:57

I would always assume someone was being dropped off after a night out. Especially on a weekend night.

missmartha · 06/06/2021 08:09

My neighbour sometimes works shifts and gets dropped off about then by his mate.

They are a noisy lot though and last year had a delivery of timber at 4am. We are a semi detached house with them and they didn't even apologise for the commotion and asking why is pointless.

Just saying some people are like that.

Underbox · 06/06/2021 08:13

It was Saturday night so I would assume a drop off after a big night out. If it happens every night of the week, I would assume drugs.

If you're that bothered, go round and ask them.

Ubereats
Deliveroo
JustEat

SnoopCatz · 06/06/2021 08:44

A car door slamming woke me up early hours, it was next door having a paper delivery. Maybe they are getting a Sunday paper delivered.
