Bathroom door hits shower screen

This is dreadfully dull, so apologies in advance.

We have just had a brand new bathroom fitted, and the bathroom door now opens against the glass shower screen. I have two young DC and I know for a fact they'll swing open the door and smash it into the screen. I don't think a standard door stop with do the job as they are so easily knocked about. There isn't any room between the gap to place a piece of furniture to stop the door.

Any ideas?

What choice do you have but a door stop?

Threaten the throttle the children?

Re do your bathroom?

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/06/2021 21:19

do you have space to reverse the door so it opens on the other side?

thewinehasgonetomyhead · 05/06/2021 21:20

Hmm. I guess this is why I'm asking others for ideas? Thank you for your help.

Thank you that's actually a very good idea I hadn't thought of. Unfortunately the other side is the vanity unit so wouldn't be an option. Thank you though.

Why do you think a door stop won't work? This is exactly what those rubber ones you screw into the floor are for.

Ah yes, I was thinking more of the wedge type ones that easily get kicked about. But yes I guess one of those would work.

We had a shower door which hit the edge of the sink - it eventually shattered (safety glass so looked like crushed ice in the door frame but fell out of the frame easily ) I'm still finding pieces of the damned thing 2years later, so you probably do need to do something. A good solid door stop should fix it surely.

reprehensibleme · 05/06/2021 21:25

And yes, door stop that screws into the floor, not a wedge.

We have a couple of door stops like these

You can buy round rubber ones that screw on the floor - or buy a doorstop sand bag thing but use it behind the door or one of these spring ones the cats seem to like.

Springchickpea · 05/06/2021 21:28

We have the same as @dementedpixie in our bathroom. Couldn’t screw in because of underfloor heating. So far so good, but always a bit of a worry.

thewinehasgonetomyhead · 05/06/2021 21:34

Thanks everyone. I've found what I need now.

Haven't seen a magnetic one before; nice

thewinehasgonetomyhead · 05/06/2021 21:57

As long as it works as well as it claims! Confused
