Hey

Keen to buy but having a nightmare finding an area
We want to be nearish to family who are in

High Wycombe
Thame
Hemel Hempstead

Need to be able to get into London, preferably kings cross or Euston or Farringdon a few times a week so don't want a hideous commute

Currently in a town we hate - nothing here but a supermarket and good transport links out! What a town with a bit of life and character, restaurants, coffee shops, the cliche stuff so we can potter about. Two children so good schools are a must.

Budget is about 500k. We currently have a 4 bed which is great for us but just can't stand area anymore. Have checked Amersham and Chesham but mostly out of budget

Wondering if there are any gems we've missed?!

Please help! Thank you

Slight north...Wendover? has a train station straight into Marylebone.

lachy · 09/06/2021 19:18

Tring will be like Amersham and Chesham in terms of price bracket, but Haddenham is nice as are parts of Aylesbury.

Oh WOW Shock That's. Um. Busy.

lachy · 09/06/2021 20:23

Isn't it! Lots of mats, and some very impressive hoover lines!

Beecham · 09/06/2021 20:29

St Albans?
Would suggest Berkhamsted but it's v pricy

Beecham · 09/06/2021 20:34

Aylesbury is definitely not the right place for 'character' and pottering about. It's one of those towns that's been ruined by postwar developers and is dominated by roads.

And 500k won't get you a 4 bed in a characterful town, with good schools. Sometimes a compromise is needed.

Leighton Buzzard might do the trick

Maraki · 09/06/2021 21:44

Radlett, Borehamwood are within your budget with good transportation

How about Chinnor, just a couple of miles from Princes Risborough train station? This one has 3 beds but very pretty www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/91067764?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard

Don’t move to Borehamwood…. It’s a dump!
I grew up there 😬
