Are there any counsellors out there? Any chance of some career advice?

I am looking to start a counselling course, I have the choice of two providers. One is BACP accredited, the other is NSC and NHS accredited. I feel drawn to the second course, it has f2f learning and the interviewer/salesperson gave a more detailed description of the course. But will I be held back by not being BACP accredited? Will I be able to make it up later without having to spend too much money. I am 48 so I can't afford to make a mistake, either financially, or timewise. The more I google the less I know. Please help.
Thank you 🙏

If it’s accredited by the NHS do they employ people with that qualification?
I’m a qualified counsellor. BACP accredited. And now am no longer working in that area due to the lack of anything other than private work being an option. The nhs work all seemed to be done by MH nurses with add on qualifications.
I could get hourly rate work from Relate type agencies but it wasn’t enough to actually make any kind of living.

I didn't think there was such a thing as NHS accreditation? I've never heard of it and use to work in the NHS alongside counsellors.
It thought BACP accreditation was the one most employers asked for/ clients were encouraged to look for. (At least it was the accreditation that the department I used to work for ask for when employing people).
Maybe have a look at a few job adverts and see what is asked for?

The NHS accreditation is National Hypnotherapist Society. Sorry. Maybe they should have gone for association Grin

BACP is the one that people ask for around here if looking for jobs with charities etc

PP has good advice though - look for job adverts in the places you want to work for and see what they require
