Someone I know has tested positive for covid, we went for lunch on Thursday. I've had both jabs but haven't heard from track and trace yet.. Do I need to isolate and for how long?

Not unless you are contacted by test and trace

JeanneFrench · 05/06/2021 13:27

Yes, you need to isolate. Going for lunch makes you a contact. Tell your work and arrange for tests to be delivered to your home. Then do your online shopping, etc. Do you live alone?

bluntness1001 · 05/06/2021 13:29

No I have 3 kids and my partner, would they have to isolate or just me?

They and you would have to isolate until second negative test.

bluntness1001 · 05/06/2021 13:33

Oh really?

Wait to see if you are contacted- you weren't necessarily a contact when they had symptoms.
And no, the rest of your family don't have to isolate unless you have a positive test.

bluntness1001 · 05/06/2021 13:36

Is it not they only isolate I have have symptoms myself?

@JeanneFrench

Second negative test?
winesolveseverything · 05/06/2021 13:38

That's right- if you got symptoms and then had a positive test- then your partner and children would have to isolate.

Otherwise no.

Track and trace will be in touch if you (and only you) need to isolate due to contact with your friend.

WetWeekends · 05/06/2021 13:39

You’re family don’t have to isolate unless they were at the lunch as well. If you develop symptoms then they would have to isolate.

Whosaidit · 05/06/2021 13:39

@JeanneFrench

They and you would have to isolate until second negative test.
???
Russell19 · 05/06/2021 13:40

Only you need to isolate for 10 days, not your family. Unless you get symptoms.

JeanneFrench · 05/06/2021 13:43

Sorry must be different protocol in the UK to France and Spain, my mistake.

Hope you test negative, OP! Take care.

bluntness1001 · 05/06/2021 13:48

Thank you.

My eldest 2 can walk to school but my youngest is in year 2, what have other people done about the school run?

OP posts:
Russell19 · 05/06/2021 14:31

Someone else will have to do the school run or you have to keep them off school.
