but have no phone to call the police, and have two small kids so don't think I should try to track them down and fight them for it. Not sure what to do! Any ideas?

on the Find My phone app btw.

Track them down

PhannyPharts · 05/06/2021 11:31

Can't you disable it from the find your phone app so they at least can't use it? Do you know they stole it rather than having found it to return to you?

CrumbsThatsQuick · 05/06/2021 11:31

Police won't care be resourced enough to do anything anyway. Log a crime online, get a reference for insurance. I'd be really tempted to go find it, but that is not wise.

HelpMeh · 05/06/2021 11:32

I'd be going to get my phone...

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 05/06/2021 11:32

Ask a neighbour if you can call 101 on their phone?

Shitfuckcommaetc · 05/06/2021 11:32

I had this, it was a teenager who'd found it. They put a post on fb the next day and I collected it.

Don't think the worst

icelollycraving · 05/06/2021 11:33

I’d be going to find my phone!

Newnormal99 · 05/06/2021 11:33

Take a screenshot at least so you have location saved.

My sister had hers stolen while in hosp.

I logged in and saw it on the map - rang the ward and it was back within a couple of hours.....they obviously knew who had taken it when they saw address!

Justjoinedforthis · 05/06/2021 11:34

Well it's traveled from north London to central London, and they have turned it off so I reckon it's been nicked. I have marked it lost through the app, I agree police won't do anything and it's not insured (doh). I have disabled it, but it's so frustrating! I wonder if it's just in a bin somewhere. It's near Selfriges on Oxford street if anyone finds a red iPhone in a case! Ha.

Have you got any banking apps on there? I’d be more concerned they were heading to shop.

AmberIsACertainty · 05/06/2021 11:42

If you do want to call the police on 101, ask a neighbor to do it for you. They'd have to be a special kind of nasty to refuse. You never know, it might be a quiet night crime wise. If there's a cloud attached to the phone they're possibly taking selfies and the pics will go there so check that too. You can have the phone blocked so they can't use it and stop them running up a massive bill by contacting the phone company eg Vodafone or whoever to report it stolen. Ideally you need the IMEI from the phone but if you haven't got that written down then as long as you bought the SIM from them at the same time as the phone they'll be able to find it and block it. If you picked up a SIM in the supermarket took it home and put it in a random phone they'll be able to block the SIM and send you out a replacement for your next phone but they won't be able to block the phone itself.

I was so wrong, someone just called my partner on it! Happy days, there is hope for humanity. Thanks for all the replies and advice. I was mainly concerned my chess games on my app would all time out!

Fabulous!!

eurochick · 05/06/2021 11:46

Faith in humanity restored!

HollowTalk · 05/06/2021 11:47

That's great news. Wasn't it locked, though?

youngestisapsycho · 05/06/2021 11:47

If it’s an iPhone, doesn’t it lock so it can’t be used?

EduCated · 05/06/2021 11:50

If you set up medical ID, emergency contacts can be called even when locked.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 05/06/2021 11:54

Great you've got it back. The time my daughter lost hers, we tried phoning it but no joy (dd always has it on silent). Then we broadcast a message on it with my phone number to call using the find my phone app. The person who found it called me and we got the phone back.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 05/06/2021 11:56

That's really good news. A good deed, in a naughty world :)
