Unclear pricing

I find it so strange how some people don't have prices on their websites for goods or services. I know that it's so people will contact them, but does it put you off?

In this case it was for balloons. Wanted to support a small business (friend of friend) but of course they had no prices on their pages, so messaged them with our budget, ideas of what we wanted and asked for an example of what they could do for that price. They directed us back to their Instagram. Messaged them again with a few specific examples of what we liked on their page, asking how much each would cost, and their reply was positive but again didn't tell us any prices.

This really put me off like they want to charge as high as they can get away with... or maybe they don't actually want our business? We ordered from the balloon shop in town instead with clear pricing online, but now I feel bad for engaging with them and not choosing them, but feel they should have been straightforward.

Thoughts?

Tell them, they might be trying to grow their online platforms but it is not working as they made it difficult for their customer (you) to buy their products.
If you feel a bit urgh about feeding back directly, tell your friend, they can pass on the info.
