Coastal living

Me & DH are keen to move to coast. Work remotely so can move anywhere. Would love beach walks but also cafe vibe. Ideas/opinions/suggestions please. Ideally with through prep/secondary nearby so we can slot ds into same school & not have to move schools again for secondary stage (2 x ds - age 7 & 9) TIA

Depending on where you end up, the idea of a through school is less important as there may only be one or two local secondaries so, be default, all of the children from your local primary will go to the same secondary school anyway. Going back a long time but, of the 32 children in Yr6 with me, 27 ended up going to the same secondary school with the rest going to the "other" secondary school or private.
On the other hand, if you want a private school (you refer to a prep), then that possibly narrows down your search as in some areas there just aren't that many private schools. Cornwall, for example, has one big co-ed private school in Truro and an all girls school there and in the rest of the county there are a couple of tiny private schools and that is it. So if you have a DS, you only have one option and, if you don't like that, you would need to re-think! If you do like it, you then need to consider travel times. Other counties will have more choice but it is something to consider if you are set on private.

There is a lot of coast

Can you narrow it down fred or are you honestly happy anywhere

Good point about schools - maybe I don’t need to over focus on through school if we can transfer both boys to a local primary (if places!) yes - we’re literally considering everywhere at moment! Would be much easier if I could narrow it down but really don’t have a clue! North East seems good option if considerably cheaper than south coast but then the hotter climate down south is tempting..... I think I need a map of the country and some serious Google research time!

If you are going private for school . Lytham St Anne’s in Lancashire. Morecambe Bay is up and coming and while no cafe culture the Eden Project North may alter the vibe . Good grammar schools and University in nearby Lancaster.
