I hate queuing for a wee at outdoor events so was chuffed tc see this innovation. I'm intrigued as to how one actually uses it but on the face of it this looks like a good idea.

What do we think?

Also on their website the woman's figure that looks like she is exuding yellow worms Shock
Guess they are supposed to overall represent an area of yellow / urine but Envy
Not envy !!

TheBobJog · 05/06/2021 10:26

At first glance that looks like something I'd struggle to find my way out of after a few sherbets.

Exposed toilets and a maze. Literally one of my worst nightmares right there.

Minezatea · 05/06/2021 10:32

I think they look awful. The reason why women's q's are long is that they need to remove a lot of clothing to use the loo and they might well beed to attend to some sanitary care. So people who are not on their period and wearing the right sort of clothing to use this can use it but in reality they are the people who nip in and out of a cubicle really quickly. It looks rank, unprivate and a total waste of money as far as I can see. If there is some magic which makes it actually useful, you've got to wonder why they didn't share that.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 05/06/2021 10:32

Male as default is not bloody equality- our biology is different we need different facilities

CornedBeef451 · 05/06/2021 10:36

Fuck no! All my nightmares involve public peeing, no way would I do it voluntarily!

There's one diagram on FB that implies you have to squat, no way could I do that.

Minezatea · 05/06/2021 10:38

yes @CornedBeef451 Agree re: squatting. I thought it was odd to have the picture of a much older lady saying she needed to pee. Are they seriously suggesting that someone in their 80's will be be able to adopt the position to use these? I am 30 years younger and couldn't.

Grellbunt · 05/06/2021 10:40

It just proves that the pics are juvenile attempts to cover up the real driver which is saving costs

EastWestWhosBest · 05/06/2021 10:42

The way to ensure that women aren’t queuing for any longer than men is to put in more toilets for women. Not different toilets, just more.

StarlightLady · 05/06/2021 10:46

@EastWestWhosBest - 👍

DumplingsAndStew · 05/06/2021 10:47

These could conceivably make things easier/cheaper for event organisers, but not for women at all.

Surprise surprise!

Giggorata · 05/06/2021 10:59

No chance would I use these.
This is not a solution to the “problem” of women queueing for the loo.

We need a solution to the real problem, which is that women need safe, private, separate and adequate lavatory facilities. These are not it.

Councilworker · 05/06/2021 11:01

The man with the camera seems to be from the BBC report on them.
They are no flush no paper toilets. And this is how you squat. But I still don't know where I put my knickers and trousers whilst squatting (obviously I don't expect a naked woman to demonstrate but just a diagram would help). I could manage in a skirt but not like this

Yup, as @Giggorata posts:

^ We need a solution to the real problem, which is that women need safe, private, separate and adequate lavatory facilities. These are not it ^

Also... they exclude disabled people by design. Thanks for that.

mybrainhertz · 05/06/2021 11:03

How do you manage if you've got trousers on, are overweight, have mobility issues, on a period etc.?

Amelia666 · 05/06/2021 11:10

Even if the idea was good in theory, the design is awful.

(Disclaimer: I can’t imagine myself using one by choice and would find it degrading to be stood there visible while blatantly pissing (ie obviously sinking/rising or just owning it from the shoulders up in a peequal) with thronging crowds of any sex wandering around)

Why are the walls so low? Why no roof? Why so tiny? Why so open? Why are they like a crystal maze/escape room to figure out? Just... why?! Shock

SquirrelFan · 05/06/2021 11:21

In theory, a great idea, in practice, not so much. Love how it's two younguns who've invented it. I'm pretty sure the population in the UK is skewing older and older so there'll be even more 50+ year olds at festivals which might lessen the period issue, but would certainly up the mobility issue, and there's still the trouser/safety/lack of privacy difficulty. Also, no paper? I'm not dripping dry.

CrochetyCrochet · 05/06/2021 11:23

No way would I choose to use these. Tiny space, having to squat/hover/aim over what is essentially a hole in the plastic floor no doubt swilling with urine whilst managing a bag, holding my clothing out of the way/off the floor and trying not to make eye contact with the squatting woman a couple of feet away from me or the queue who can all see the top half of my body. Nowhere to hang a bag or wash hands. Plus the trying to balance on wet, muddy plastic quite likely to be sloping given this is in a field would probably require having to brace against the walls. So immediately losing the so called 'no touch points' advantage.
These are worse, not better.
Just have more loos FFS. It's not hard.

wigwoo · 05/06/2021 11:23

I used a female urinal at Brighton Pride once, never again. Also have a she wee but also , never again

Loyaultemelie · 05/06/2021 11:26

I'm permanently on crutches due to a knee and lower leg issue no way could I use those! Actually I'm not convinced pre leg I would have had the balance either Blush

SirSamuelVimes · 05/06/2021 11:28

All of this.

No fucking thank you to these.

QuestionableMouse · 05/06/2021 11:58

I've peed in some unusual places (including a horsebox with just the divider over, ramp was open) so I'm not opposed to novel solutions but this looks dire.

CornedBeef451 · 05/06/2021 12:03

I've left a comment on their page, maybe we should all point out what a crap idea it is.

FlowerChildofthe80s · 05/06/2021 13:25

But what I don't get is why not just commission a loo there rather than an urinal?

UnbeatenMum · 05/06/2021 16:10

Everyone can see your face! That's not equality, when men use a urinal they have their back to the room and face the wall. I would consider using it if the walls were higher but I'd rather have an adequate number of proper toilets given the choice.

FictionalCharacter · 05/06/2021 16:14

Equality my arse. We just need more women’s loos everywhere, proper ones where we have privacy and safety from incursions by pervy men.
