When I was a little girl I was absolutely horse mad. I used to spend hours dreaming about owning one and would draw them or flick through picture books at any opportunity.
We moved to a new area when I was about 9 and down the road was a riding stables. My parents couldn't afford lessons sadly but I would sit on the fence on the lane after school and watch them walk their horses past.
Occasionally one of the riders would be friendly enough to stop and let me pat the horse.
So here's the weird thing - every time I attempted to pat the horse I POKED IT IN THE EYE!
I poked pretty much every bloody horse I got near right in the eyeball and I have no explanation for it whatsoever.
It wasn't intentional and I remember trying to be really careful to ensure that I didn't poke the next one in the eyeball but then off I'd go again!
I just cannot fathom out how or why!
